How To Clean A Carpet Using Prochem Products

Share

1. Prepare the Carpet

Always remove any solid matter first by using a Prochem Bone Scraper, spatula, or blunt knife edge.

Vacuum thoroughly to remove loose dirt, dust and debris (this step is essential).

Pre-test colour fastness. In a hidden corner (e.g.,under furniture) spray a tiny amount of the diluted cleaning solution and wait for it to dry. If colours change, stop and consider a gentler product.

2. Pre-Treat Spills, Stains & Traffic Lanes

Depending on whether you need to do any spot cleaning , you will apply prespray or spotter chemicals first.

Spot & Stain Treatment

Use a specialised Prochem spotter (e.g., Red RX) according to its instructions before overall cleaning. Always spot-test first. (See our Prochem Stain Removal Guide for correct stain remover.)

For general soil & traffic lanes

These are common Prochem options:

Prochem Multi Pro - S709

Prochem Double Clean (powder) - S776

Prochem Prespray Gold - B107 (For wool carpets)

3. Extraction Cleaning

This is the main cleaning step — removing soil and chemicals from the carpet with hot water and suction with a carpet cleaning extraction machines e.g. Prochem Galaxy, Prochem Power Max, Prochem Power Plus or Prochem Steameasy.

Choose the right extraction chemical

Here are frequently used Prochem options:

Prochem Fibre & Fabric Rinse - B109

Prochem Extraclean - B106

Prochem Crystal Green (powder) - S777

Prochem Liquid Woolsafe - S781 (For wool carpets)

4. Choose a Carpet Freshener/Deodoriser

Popular Prochem options are:

Prochem Odour Fresh - B124

Prochem Fresh Breeze - B230

How to extract

Load the machines solution tank with the diluted chemical using the correct dilution rates.

Work in sections: apply hot water/solution and extract using overlapping strokes so you don’t miss spots.

Don't over wet as too much water can cause long drying times and possible dye migration.

4. Optional Finishing Touches

Protect fibres: certain protectors can be applied post-clean e.g. Prochem Fluoroseal - B130.

Safety Tips

Always wear protective gloves and ensure good ventilation.

Do not mix different products unless the label says it’s safe.

Keep chemicals away from pets and children until carpet is dry.
